That's it then...

The summer is officially over, at least according to the current weather conditions. I'm currently sat in my conservatory on the laptop listening to the rain. This is good, and it's also good that it's beginning to turn cold again, much as I'm sure we'd all like it to stay warm, I'd rather the cycle of the plants wasn't messed up too badly. Anyway, the heating got turned on yesterday for the first time in ages and I'll soon have an excuse to start lighting the fire of an evening, so it's not at all bad. I think I'll get a beer before continuing...

Fit as a butchers dog.

Well something had to be done. I've put some weight back on over the summer months, so now I'm trying to get rid of it. This time however, instead of just changing what I eat I've also started to try and get fitter. I can't afford a gym membership at the moment, and to be honest I see the gym as largely dead money (who knows though, I may get a job at a bank with an internal gym in the offices... that's if I ever manage to get a job at all) so apart from using Emma's treadmill, I've just ordered a rowing machine and, since I'm into more cardio than muscle building, one of those lateral step thingies. Oh, and a juicer.

It's amazing actually, I saw the juicer and the step thing on TV for about £100 and £90 respectively. A quick search on the web and you can get them for £40 and £32 respectively, so for 10 minutes work I save £118, although to be honest they were never going to be bought at full price.

Anyway, Mr McDougall may have got his 4km time down to under 20 minutes, but I'll stick with just over 3km in that time all done on an incline (unlike my garden which is perfectly level, thank you). Once I throw in the rowing (which I always found the hardest when I used to go to the gym) and the step thing, hopefully I'll start to really feel the difference and be a lot fitter and thinner, I'll let you know how I get on.

I've taken a day off today. I want to try to get up to 30 mins on the treadmill, and I gave it a try yesterday, but apparently I'm not ready yet as I still ache. I reckon a day off is probably wise.

The sun has just come out so I think I'll go and do something more useful now.
